  • Ruben Amorim makes his home debut as Manchester United manager on Thursday when he introduces himself to the Old Trafford crowd in this league-phase contest in the Europa League against Norwegian Eliteserien leaders Bodo/Glimt. This clash is live on TNT Sports in the UK and will kick off at 20:00.

Man United vs Bodo/Glimt Predictions

  • Full Time Result: Man United Win
  • Correct Score: 2-0
  • Both Teams To Score: No
  • Over 2.5 Goals: No
  • First Goalscorer: Christian Eriksen

Amorim’s first fixture as United boss finished with an underwhelming 1-1 draw at Premier League strugglers Ipswich on Sunday, but a return to home turf could yield a better return for the Red Devils.

United took the lead through Marcus Rashford after just 81 seconds at Portman Road but they failed to capitalise on their fast start with Ipswich arguably finishing the stronger in that contest.

The Tractor Boys are housed in the lower reaches of the Premier League but they are still likely to be stronger than the top dogs from Norway, so Amorim will be confident of making a winning start on his opening Old Trafford outing.

Man United vs Bodo/Glimt Tips

Tip 1

It is likely to take time for Manchester United to get to grips with Amorim’s tactics, with a switch to a 3-4-2-1 system the most obvious change to playing matters at Old Trafford.

And things are being made tricky for the Portuguese in that regard as he is faced with an injury crisis at centre back with Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire, Lenny Yoro and Victor Lindelof all set to be on the sidelines for this contest.

Jonny Evans, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are likely to form a makeshift back three for United but that shouldn’t stop the Red Devils securing a comfortable victory on Thursday.

United have won their last two Old Trafford outings without conceding and a home win to nil looks a solid way to go from a punting perspective in this fixture.

Bodo/Glimt are above the Red Devils in the Europa League standings after four rounds of matches and they are also top of the table in the Norwegian Eliteserien with one round of fixtures to go.

Bodo have a home clash with Lilllestrom on Sunday and victory in that match would hand them the league title in Norway for a fourth time, so they may be forgiven for pitching up at Old Trafford with one eye on their weekend assignment.

The Norwegians failed to score at Union St Gilloise earlier in this competition and they may struggle even to break through United’s temporary rearguard.

Their last visit to England ended in a 3-0 loss at Arsenal and in arguably their biggest ever fixture, they may wilt under the Old Trafford lights and a similar outcome looks likely.

Tip 2

Christian Eriksen has scored two goals in three Europa League outings this season for Manchester United and he looks a value bet to increase his tally on Thursday.

Eriksen’s deep-lying role alongside Casemiro should help to find plenty of space in which to work and he could find things more to his liking away from the frantic pace of the Premier League.

Things have become more of a struggle for the 32-year-old in domestic competition but with Bodo/Glimt likely to sit back and play on the counter, Eriksen is likely to see plenty of the ball and at the odds that he either scores or provides an assist he look like another decent betting play.
