EFL Cup Winner Prediction

There isn’t much between Arsenal and Liverpool’s odds to win the Carabao Cup this season, with both clubs holding favourable quarter-final ties against low-level Premier League opposition in Crystal Palace and Southampton. We expect these two to meet in February’s final and for Arne Slot to guide his team to the first available trophy of the season which is available at 11/4 at this current stage.

What are the Most Popular EFL Cup Bets?

The most popular EFL Cup bets generally depend on the round. In the early stages of the competition, there is a full fixture list and with seeded teams present, there are great opportunities for accumulator bets and both teams to score accas. As the competition progresses and there are fewer games in each round, it is better to look at match-specific markets such as correct score or anytime goalscorers or alternatively our bet of the day which regularly covers English cup competitions, including the FA Cup.

When are Our EFL Cup Tips Available?

Our plan is to post our EFL Cup betting tips at least 24 hours before the match’s kick-off time, with somewhere between 24 hours and 48 hours a more accurate timeframe for match previews going live.

Are There Any Specific Markets That Tend to Offer Better Value in the EFL Cup?

Since the EFL Cup is a knockout tournament comprised of 92 teams where many lower league teams cause massive upsets, there is plenty of appeal to some of the more traditional betting markets such as the match outcome market. Beyond that, more contemporary markets such as player fouls, shots on target and anytime goalscorers can also have a huge draw, especially in fixtures with an enormous disparity in quality between the two teams.

Best Bookmakers for Betting on the EFL Cup

Dozens of bookmakers offer the latest FA Cup betting offers and odds markets, however, if you’re in search of a bookie who can deliver you the best all-round betting experience, here are our five favourites:

  • Bet365
  • Paddy Power
  • BetMGM
  • Sky Bet
  • Midnite

EFL Cup History

The League Cup has gone by many names over the years, from the Football League Cup in 1960 to the Milk Cup, Coca-Cola Cup, Worthington Cup and Carling Cup, to name but a few. In the 2017/18 season it became the Carabao Cup.

The cup was originally created in the early 1960s as a consolation competition for teams that had crashed out of the more prestigious FA Cup, at a time when teams were struggling to fill stadiums. Games were held during the week and gave struggling teams the chance to gain a few more ticket sales between weekend fixtures.

The League Cup has thrown up many a magical moment over the years, from Luton Town’s famous last-minute winner against the giants of Arsenal in 1988 to Bradford City’s surprise run to the final in 2013.
