FA Cup Winner Prediction

Holders Manchester United are 14/1 to retain their crown under Ruben Amorim but it’s far too soon to make a judgement on whether his team will possess the requisite quality to lift a trophy this term. Instead, Arsenal’s price of 7/1 greatly appeals, most recently winning the competition in 2020 with Mikel Arteta in charge and now having padded out their squad to compete on all fronts.

What are the Most Popular FA Cup Bets?

One of the most popular FA Cup bets include betting on the outright winner, especially from the third round proper when Premier League and Championship teams enter the competition. Match betting is also very popular among FA Cup bettors and consists of wagers on a number of popular markets such as both teams to score, over/under 2.5 goals and correct score. Additionally, building accumulators across the third round is particularly of interesting to both casual and seasoned punters alike.

When are Our FA Cup Tips Available?

We aim to deliver readers with our FA Cup tips and predictions on a match-by-match basis at least 24 hours in advance of a fixture’s kick-off time.

Which games we cover and therefore which tips we provide depend entirely on the FA Cup draw for each round, with a priority being placed on the biggest fixtures.

When Does the FA Cup Start?

The FA Cup takes place in stages, with the preliminary rounds happening in early August each season. This is for teams that do not compete in the English Football League. There are two preliminary rounds and four qualifying rounds before the first round takes place in November.

The first round proper is when Football League teams from League 1 and League 2 enter the competition, before the top two English league tiers join proceedings. From there, every team is five wins away from lifting the trophy.

Are There Any Specific Markets That Tend to Offer Better Value in the FA Cup?

Given the nature of the competition’s knockout format and its reputation for ‘giant killings’ the match winner/full-time result market can often be a fruitful space for casual and seasoned punters. The FA Cup has provided many large priced winners over the years as league form and ranking doesn’t predetermine any result in this cup competition.

Best Bookmakers for Betting on the FA Cup

Although there are plenty of bookmakers out there offering competitive odds, boosts, specials and betting tips for the FA Cup, the following bookies are companies who we believe provide an overall thorough and pleasant online betting experience on the competition:

History of the FA Cup

The FA Cup is football’s longest-running national competition, first kicking off on 11 November 1871.

The first final took place at Kennington Oval on 16 March 1872, between Royal Engineers and Wanderers FC. The Wanderers ran out victorious and would do so a further four times over the next seven years.

English football went professional in 1885 and by then, many of the teams we recognise today were beginning to find success. Though the leagues provided football throughout the year, the FA Cup final was still the highlight of the season – signalling the start of the English summer. In 1923, the final found a permanent home at the newly built Empire Stadium, tucked away in a corner of London – Wembley.

The FA Cup was originally intended as a means of bringing together teams from across the north-south divide. These days, Sunday sides hope to join a select few in making a surprise run to the competition’s latter stages, while national giants remain keen to add to their growing trophy cabinets.

The knockout competition has gifted fans many golden moments over the years – heart-stopping and heart-breaking, memorable and magical. Though the tournament may lack the clout it once had, the FA Cup is still a jewel in English football’s crown and marks the culmination of the league season.
