Here you’ll find daily football predictions, tips and analysis for League One’s most important fixtures. The third tier of English football produces plenty of surprises during its 46-game run each season for 24 clubs, which makes for the perfect battle ground for punters to make use of.
In a renewed five-year TV deal agreed in May 2024 for the EFL, a minimum of 248 Sky Bet League One matches will be broadcast from the 2024/25 to the 2028/29 season, as well as all 15 play-off matches during this time.
On this page we intend to provide regular bettors with various League One predictions and betting tips, ranging from the division’s outright winner and selections in the top goalscorer market to match specific tips, including picks within popular markets, like win-draw-win results, BTTS, over/under goal lines, and player prop markets such as anytime goalscorers, player shots on target, player fouls and players to be carded.
These will be provided by our in-house tipsters who are experts in their field. With their years of football analysis, they can spot an odds-on favourite when they see one, but also have a trained eye for those perfectly capable of causing an upset.
Each round of fixtures will be supported by a host of in-depth match previews, packed with specific analysis and betting tips for that fixture.
Our League One tips and predictions reflect current fixtures, so they change every week. However, you’ll generally find all your favourite wagers and big bets are part of our experts’ selection ahead of every round of games.
Our League 1 predictions feature all your favourite punts, including accumulators tips, BTTS, over/under 2.5 goals and even the FootballTips bet of the day.
You’ll find a great mix of different bets from our League One previews, too. Our tipsters pour over the stats, analysing every pass, shot and foul to bring you fully-researched tips and predictions on all the games from England’s third tier.

After suffering relegation from the Championship by just a single point, Luton Town are poised as the third tier’s frontrunners – some margin from second-favourites Huddersfield Town, who were well fancied last term but fell significantly short of the points tally needed to participate in the 2024/25 play-offs.
Competition looks less fierce this season after Birmingham City and Wrexham’s promotions, which could pave the way for an outlier to emerge at an attractive price: Cardiff City are my choice at 8/1, however, a case could also be made for Plymouth Argyle (17/2), Bolton Wanderers (11/1) or Stockport County (14/1) – all of whom linger on the fringes of the outright market.
Usually, expectations for at least one well-favoured team are wildly off, and this season I feel as though that could be Luton Town. I anticipate them finishing somewhere outside of the play-off places, meaning it’s open season for promotion hopefuls.
You can expect Cardiff City to finish inside the automatic places, while newbies Stockport County have a stake to claim for finishing in the play-off spots after three promotions in the last five years. I also see Huddersfield Town and Blackpool going stronger this term.
Northampton Town were involved in a close relegation dogfight last campaign, and look a reasonable choice to suffer the drop this time around at odds of 11/8. Joining them in my list of doomed teams are Port Vale, who earned the second automatic promotion place from League 2 last season, Burton Albion, who survived by the skin of their teeth during the 2024/25 campaign, and Exeter City, whose recent standings in the table have produced diminishing returns.
Cardiff City’s Yousef Salech tops the ante-post betting, with BetVictor going an industry-leading 10/1 for him to pick up the individual gong. That price doesn’t do a whole lot for me, though, and instead I’ll be opting for something further afield given the openness of this season’s running.
Nakhi Wells managed 10 goals in the division above for Bristol City last term, and arrives at Luton Town with a point to prove after being, in his eyes, unfairly dismissed by the Robins in a rough exit.
Since its introduction in 2006, only one of the 19 League One Player of the Season recipients was not a midfielder or forward. Following this trend, which includes last season’s winner, Richard Kone of Wycombe Wanderers, a player of Callum Robinson’s calibre could thrive in a lower division, with him casting a 33/1 shadow to be the league’s top goalscorer for those interested.
Birmingham City’s Chris Davies expectedly scooped this prize for comfortably driving the Blues to the third tier title with a tally of 111 points. While I don’t imagine Cardiff City will run away with the league as clearly as that here, I do think Brian Barry-Murphy will provide his team with enough juice to see them eventually lift the trophy and the new boss honoured for his efforts at the end-of-season shindig in April 2026.
There is no betting market for the first League One manager to be sacked, however, for those with a morbid curiosity, I am tipping Wigan Athletic’s struggles to continue and for Ryan Lowe to bite the bullet first.
Blackpool showed fleeting signs of promise under the experienced, pragmatic eye of Steve Bruce last season, who replaced the departing Neil Critchley early on. With a full pre-season and a whole previous campaign of assessment to boot, Bruce and the Tangerines look well equipped for a strong promotion push.
There is no exact formula for winning football bets given the number of variables involved, however, bookmakers do tend to overstate or undervalue certain teams or players early on in the season before concrete proof has been shown. This can be a goldmine for outright betting on the league winner or top goalscorer, as well as match specific markets such as win-draw-win betting, anytime goalscorers, player shots on target and player cards.
Our League One tips are typically available at least 24 hours before a specific match’s kick-off time. More often than not, we have tips and match previews published somewhere between 36-48 hours ahead of the chosen match.
Three teams are promoted from League One each season, with the top two placed teams gaining promotion automatically, and the third and final spot decided in a four-team play-off system contested by the clubs who finish 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th.
