After a below-par season followed up last year’s World Cup will Tottenham full-back Kieran Trippier be set to leave North London this summer?
Kieran Trippier enjoyed a terrific World Cup twelve months ago in Russia, being one of England’s star performers in a terrific campaign that saw the Three Lions reach the semi-final stage, where the full-back had given his side the lead before they fell to Croatia in extra-time.
But following the success of his performances in Russia and a reported strong interest in his services, the Bury-born defender has struggled to replicate that form over the course of the following season and has admitted himself that he had not been at his best as Spurs finished fourth in the Premier League and reached the Champions League final.
Some of the clubs that were reported to be interested in Trippier last summer included Real Madrid and Manchester United, but after such a poor season a headline move of that nature seems unlikely, particularly since both of those sides have since signed players that play in his position.
Juventus are now the odds-on favourites to sign Trippier. With Joao Cancelo reportedly being courted by a host of top European clubs and the Old Lady happy to see him go, then the 28 year old may be more suited to the Italian style and his deadly cross would surely prove incredibly effective with Cristiano Ronaldo leading the line.
Also in the running are Napoli, Everton and Roma according toPaddyPower. The Toffees may want to give Seamus Coleman some competition in that berth whilst Partenopei could be set to lose first choice right-back and Albania international Elseid Hysaj this summer and may see Trippier as the ideal replacement.
