Sheffield United vs Southampton Match Preview
Sheffield United must be delighted with their first month back in the Premier League and are favourites to make it only one defeat in five games when they host Southampton.
The Blades were tipped in some quarters not to have the knowhow to cope in only their second top-flight season since 1994, but so far they are proving the doubters wrong with just a solitary loss which came 2-1 in a match against Leicester that could have gone either way.
And just to ensure they entered the international break on a positive note, Chris Wilder’s side fought back from 2-0 down away to Chelsea to salvage a 2-2 draw which meant they occupy a place in the top half of the early table.
On that same last day of August, there was also a fine recovery from Southampton who put up a resilient second-half display to firstly equalise at home to Manchester United and then cling on for a point after they had been reduced to 10 men following Kevin Danso’s red card.
Neither will the Saints have any fears about going away from home because last time they went on their travels, they pulled off a 2-0 success against Brighton – albeit that time it was their opponents who had a man sent off.
We do not expect many goals at Bramall Lane or for there to be much between these sides, possibly over the season as a whole, and we can see the spoils being shared this weekend.
