Nations League Predictions & Tips – Sunday 23rd March

Serbia vs Austria – Marko Arnautovic to score and be booked

Marko Arnautovic missed a gilt-edged chance to win the first leg for Austria, where he was born, against his father’s country, Serbia. The Inter Milan striker will, for many reasons, be desperate to impress on his first international trip to Belgrade. He was booked inside seven minutes on his last appearance against Serbia in a friendly and scored in Austria’s previous game against the Eagles.

Spain vs Netherlands – Tijjani Reijnders over 0.5 shots on target

Tijjani Reijnders scored a beauty of a goal in the Netherlands’ home 2-2 Nations League quarter-final first-leg draw with Spain to illustrate his improved goal potential this season. The AC Milan star has tripled his previous season’s tally of three Serie A goals and more than doubled his 2023-24 figure for shots on target. After failing to hit the target in any of his side’s six Euro 2024 matches, Reijnders has registered at least one shot on target in five of his six subsequent Nations League games.

Iceland vs Kosovo – Kosovo to win and over 2.5 goals

Kosovo won the first leg of their Nations League play-off tie against Iceland 2-1 at home. The second match, which will be played in Murcia, Spain, is set up nicely for them to counter-attack against Iceland, who have not won any of their last three ‘home’ internationals played outside the country while their home stadium is being renovated. At least three goals have been scored in five of Iceland’s last six contests and in six of Kosovo’s last eight matches.

Georgia vs Armenia – Georgia to win, over two goals and Georges Mikautadze to score

Georgia striker Georges Mikautadze is in a rich seam of form, having scored five goals in his last three games for club and country. The Lyon star has bagged nine goals in his last 12 internationals and will be a huge danger to an Armenia defence who have shipped multiple goals in four of their last six games. After going 3-0 up in Armenia, the return clash should be a formality for Georgia to win again and rack up a few more goals.

Portugal vs Denmark – Bruno Fernandes to score and Portugal to win

Portugal have won 11 of their last 12 home games and will be confident of overturning a 1-0 deficit from the first leg of their Nations League quarter-final tie in Copenhagen. Bruno Fernandes has taken over from Cristiano Ronaldo as the team’s talisman and he could hardly be in better form after scoring 16 goals and assisting 15 more for Manchester United this season. Fernandes has also scored in two of Portugal’s last five games.
