Manchester United ended on a high with their dramatic Europa League win over Lyon on Thursday night but the Red Devils will need to be on guard against a Wolves side seeking a fifth straight Premier League victory and a league double over their hosts.

The Old Trafford contest kicks off at 14:00 on Sunday, April 20th but it is not being televised in the UK.

Man Utd vs Wolves Tips

Tip 1

After all the drama of the late night win against Lyon on Thursday, it would be foolish to predict United’s Premier League fortunes will turn around now.

They entered the weekend in 14th spot, yet to win back-to-back league games all season. Next month’s double-header with Athletic Bilbao is going to be a major focus.

They’ve won just two of their last nine at home in the league, accounting for basement boys Southampton and Ipswich.

Wolves have earned a draw and four wins, in that order, from their last five games. Vitor Pereira’s side won the reverse fixture 2-0 on December 26 but the Old Gold have never completed a Premier League double over Man Utd and had lost seven of the eight head-to-heads before that Christmas win.

Wolves’ have won five and drawn three from 16 on the road this season, a more than decent return. Just three points separate these sides in the table and that gap may remain stable after this 90 minutes passes.

Tip 2

Wolves have found the net in eight of their last nine Premier League away games and can do likewise here against a Manchester United side with just a lone clean sheet in 14 matches at Old Trafford in all competitions.

Pereira has done an excellent job in getting Wolves to a position of safety but only the three sides destined for relegation have conceded more than their 61 goals so far.

Both teams to score looks to be the safest option for this Easter Sunday showdown.

Man Utd vs Wolves team news and predicted lineups

Matthijs de Ligt has missed the last four games for United, while Amad Diallo and Lisandro Martinez are also in the treatment room. A hamstring problem was enough to see Joshua Zirkzee miss the midweek clash with Lyon and he could sit this out again.

Andre Onana was back between the posts for United on Thursday after being dropped for the loss at Newcastle. He should keep his place but Amorim may opt for changes after a long night against Lyon.

Wolves put four past Tottenham last weekend and would likely field a similar side, had Doherty and Bellegarde not picked up knocks.

Vutir Pereira remains without long-term absentees Yerson Mosquera, Enso Gonzalez, Sasa Kalajdzic and Leon Chiwome for this one, while they’ll be sweating on the fitness and availability of Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Matt Doherty, both of whom went off in last weekend’s win over Tottenham.

Man Utd predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Onana; Mazraoui, Maguire, Yoro; Dalot, Mainoo, Ugarte, Shaw; Fernandes, Garnacho; Hojlund

Wolves predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Sa; Gomes, Agbadou, Bueno, Ait-Nouri, Andre, Gomes, Semedo; Munetsi, Cunha; Larsen.

Man Utd vs Wolves key players to watch

Harry Maguire was United’s hero on Thursday night, heading home a dramatic winner. The towering defender now has three goals in his last eight starts for the club.

Matheus Cunha has scored 14 Premier League goals for Wolves this season, five of them from outside the box, and one more would see him become only the third Brazilian to find the net 15 times in a season in the English top flight.

Man United vs Wolves Head-to-Head Record

Wolves were 2-0 winners at Molineux on December 26, just their fourth ever Premier League win against Manchester United. In fact, the Old Gold had lost eight of the previous 10 head-to-heads before that festive win.
