City’s keystone asset is in line to make his first start of the season after getting 45 minutes under his belt against Brentford last weekend.

Last term the Spaniard had his most fruitful season in front of goal, netting nine times and providing 14 assists across all competitions, making him an even more dynamic player than originally believed.

During the 2023/24 league campaign, Rodri let off the fourth-most shots (62) and recorded the fourth-highest shots on target count (22) of any City player – a tool Pep Guardiola will want to utilise both domestically and on the European front.

He met this line in 16/34 Premier League fixtures last term, and also managed to hit at least one SOT in three out of eight UCL matches, including City’s final outing against Real Madrid at the Etihad in April.

Tip 2

Marcus Thuram continues to improve with each passing season, so far contributing in three of four fixtures through four goals and two assists.

The French forward is almost a third of the way to meeting last season’s league goal tally of 13 in Serie A, and will have a strong eye on levelling up from his measly tally of 1G and 1A across Inter’s 2023/24 European ventures.

Filippo Inzaghi is expected to partner him alongside Lautaro Martinez in a front two against City, and if anybody is likely to get the Argentine off the mark for the season then it’s going to be Thuram.
