Celtic vs Slovan Bratislava Tips

Tip 1

Despite rarely being questioned on the domestic front, Europe has asked many unsolvable questions of Celtic over the years. Brendan Rodgers’ record in this competition is particularly alarming, holding just three wins from 24 Champions League games, including 15 losses.

Referring back to last season, Celtic had a record of 1-1-4 from the group stages, with two of their fixtures meeting this line, and each match containing at least two goals.

Slovan’s six league matches this season have seen 20 goals, and likewise two of their UCL qualifiers have cleared 4+ goals; most recently in their second leg with Midtjylland just under a month ago.

Tip 2

With three goals and two assists across Slovan’s qualifiers for this tournament, midfielder Marko Tolic looks a shrewd punt to pick up another goal or assist at Celtic Park on Wednesday.

The Croatian registered 13G and 5A in 42 appearances last term, and struck a brace in his last UCL qualifier when Bratislava wiped out Midtjylland over two legs to earn their place within the new format.

Better yet, Tolic has been deployed as a CAM in two of his last three starts, and if this is the case again here, then the 28-year-old could be a steal to make a goal contribution at such large odds.

Celtic Form, Team News & Predicted Line-Up

The Bhoys boast a 100% record so far this season, but the real challenge comes here in Europe where their domestic hard work has often dramatically unravelled.

Maik Nawrocki is Celtic’s only absentee at present.

Celtic Predicted XI: Schmeichel; Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Taylor: Engels, McGregor, Hatate; Kuhn, Kyogo, Maeda.

Slovan Bratislava Form, Team News & Predicted Line-Up

Five wins from a possible six has Vladimir Weiss’ men sitting pretty at the top of the Slovak Super Liga, however, that loss was a heavy burden on the league leaders, who were hit for five by challengers MSK Zilina.

The visitors will be without defender Lukas Pauschek due to a shoulder injury sustained last month, but may recall goalkeeper Dominik Takac, who despite only playing one league match for Slovan, has featured in six of their European ties since joining.

Slovan Bratislava Predicted XI: Takac; Blackman, Kashia, Bajric, Wimmer; Szoke, Kucka, Tolic; Barseghyan, Strelec, Weiss Jr.
