Chelsea vs Brentford Tips

Chelsea Form, Team News & Predicted Line-Up

Unlike teams competing in the Champions League and Europa League, Chelsea’s midweek exploits in the Europa Conference League have very little effect on their freshness for their weekend league assignments as few first-teamers are required to be involved.

Cole Palmer is not even in Chelsea’s European squad and he and striker Nicolas Jackson are among those expected to return for this Premier League fixture. Noni Madueke will likely provide width with Pedro Neto ruled out due to suspension. Reece James and Wesley Fofana are still sidelined by injury.

The Blues went into the weekend second in the Premier League with only two defeats in the first 15 games. They have lost only once at home in the league this season, but six of their nine league victories have been achieved in away games, with only three coming in front of their own fans.

They are top of the Conference League standings after winning all five of their European games, the latest being a 3-1 win over Astana on Thursday.

Chelsea Predicted XI: Sanchez; Caicedo, Badiashile, Colwill, Cucurella; Fernandez, Lavia; Madueke, Palmer, Sancho; Jackson.

Brentford Form, Team News & Predicted Line-Up

Rico Henry and Aaron Hickey are ruled out for Brentford due to injuries, but midfielder Vitaly Janelt could return having missed the win over Newcastle last weekend with a niggle.

Midfielder Mathias Jensen is still a doubt after missing the last two games.

The Bees were ninth in the table before the weekend fixtures  in the Premier League with 23 points from 15 games.

They have yet to win back-to-back matches in the league this season and have done all of their winning at home, dropping just two points in eight home games but picking up only one point from their seven on the road.

Brentford Predicted XI: Flekken; Van den Berg, Collins, Pinnock; Mbeumo, Yarmolyuk, Norgaard, Lewis-Potter; Wissa, Carvalho; Thiago.

Key Players to Watch in Chelsea vs Brentford

Cole Palmer has turned into a huge star for Chelsea and Manchester City must be regretting letting their academy graduate move south.

The 22-year-old England star has scored 11 goals this season, including four in his last three appearances after converting two penalties in the 4-3 win at Tottenham.

Brentford forward Yoane Wissa has ensured that fans barely noticed the departure of Ivan Toney in the summer and already has nine goals for Thomas Frank’s side.

He notched doubles in home wins over Ipswich and Bournemouth and was also on the mark in last week’s 4-2 win over Newcastle.

Chelsea vs Brentford Head-To-Head Statistics

Brentford have been something of a bogey team for Chelsea and are unbeaten in the teams’ last five meetings.

They have won all three of the pair’s Premier League clashes at Stamford Bridge by scores of 4-1 and 2-0 twice. The teams’ meetings at Brentford over the last three seasons have produced one Chelsea win and two draws.

Overall, Chelsea have the edge in their 21 meetings stretching back to 1935, with 10 wins to Brentford’s seven along with four draws.
