Wilfried Zaha Next Club Odds

Wilfried Zaha has made it clear through his brother/agent that he wants to leave Crystal Palace this summer…but will he get his “dream” move?

Zaha’s brother Judicael has revealed it is the Ivory Coast international forward’s “dream to play for Arsenal”, the club he supported as a boy and who have already had a £40million bid rejected for his services.

For several reasons, that offer was never going to be enough. Firstly, and most obviously, Zaha is worth considerably more in a transfer market where prices have soared over the last couple of years.

Secondly, Palace have just sold right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United for £50million, a player with only one full Premier League season behind him. Zaha is much more established, the Eagles’ talisman and main source of goals, and the club clearly are not desperate for money after receiving such a big fee for Wan-Bissaka.

Thirdly, there is also the matter of a 25% sell-on clause for Zaha that means Manchester United will receive a quarter of his transfer fee, with Palace having only paid a basic £3million to re-sign him in the January 2015 window after his move to Old Trafford failed to work out.

It is thought Palace would want £80million to sell Zaha and if so, that would surely put the player beyond the reach of Arsenal who are reported to have a transfer budget of only £45million this summer.

Would the 26-year-old settle for moving elsewhere in search of European football? To him, as an Arsenal fan, it might be sacrilege to play for Tottenham Hotspur, but logistically it would be much the same and unlike the Gunners, they are in the Champions League.

The move to the North West six years ago proved to be an unhappy one, but then-United manager David Moyes had much to do with that and, instead, could Zaha fancy the idea of playing for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp with the reigning European champions?

Odds for Wilfried Zaha’s club after the summer 2019 transfer window (all odds with Paddy Power):

4/9 Arsenal
6/1 Crystal Palace
6/1 Tottenham Hotspur
14/1 Liverpool
20/1 Manchester United
25/1 Borussia Dortmund
33/1 Bayern Munich
33/1 Leicester City
40/1 Wolves
