Cross Country Steeple Chase – Tiger Roll @ 5/6
I won’t spend too long on the Cross Country, as I think Tiger Roll is an absolute banker if he turns up in one piece. The two-time Grand National winner proved his fitness with a fine return to action in the Boyne Hurdle. A third Cross Country victory will have been the main target for Elliott and his team and, even at a short price, I think Tiger Roll is an excellent bet. As you would expect, he’s the most confident of my Cheltenham Festival day two tips.
The Champion Bumper – Appreciate It – 7/4
Another short-priced selection to round off my Cheltenham Festival day two betting forecast, but I’m finding it hard to see past Appreciate It. Patrick Mullins sat happily just behind the pace at the Dublin Racing Festival, and displayed a nice turn of foot to put the race to bed with ease. We know he stays two-and-a-half miles, a fact which important over two miles around Cheltenham racecourse, and I don’t think there’s any value to be gained betting against the favourite.
PSG vs Borussia Dortmund – Home win & BTTS @ 31/20
PSG may have fell to a 1-2 defeat in the reverse fixture, but at their own ground we’re backing them for the win. They have the superior quality and the superstar front three of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Mauro Icardi to boot – but we do expect goals at both ends given that Borussia Dortmund boast the super-prolific Erling Haaland and haven’t failed to score in any of their last 16 matches in all competitions.
Liverpool vs Atletico Madrid – Liverpool -1 @ 19/20
First up though is that game on Merseyside where Jurgen Klopp’s men will have to come from a goal down to progress against Atletico Madrid. We know that under Diego Simeone, los Colchoneros will look to sit deep and frustrate, but with the attacking abilities of Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino among others to cope with, we can’t see them doing that for 90 minutes in front of the famous Anfield crowd. We fancy the Reds to go through by winning this one by more than one goal.
