With Zinedine Zidane back in the dugout at the Bernabeu, could Welsh superstar Gareth Bale be set for an exit from Real Madrid this summer?

It’s been a strange Real Madrid career so far for Gareth Bale. In his six years in the Spanish capital, the winger has racked up the trophies and goals, winning the Champions League on four occasions and scored over 100 goals in all competitions for los Blancos.

And yet, the supporters at the Bernabeu never seem to have really taken to him and it’s fair to say that despite these successes, the Welshman has never quite lived up to the potential that he showed at Tottenham Hotspur to prompt Real to part with a world-record fee to bring him to La Liga.

Now, with Zinedine Zidane back in the dugout, Bale’s future appears to be up in the air as the French boss has never really been his biggest fan and already Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic have been brought in to bolster the club’s attacking options.

A return to Tottenham has been mooted in the past, but his massive wage demands are likely to be the biggest deterring factor for Daniel Levy and the North London club, but there are other Premier League outfits that may be interested.

Manchester United have seemingly always been linked with a move for Bale and with the link between the club and his international manager Ryan Giggs, now may be the time for the Red Devils to pounce as they look for a big name signing to improve their chances of a top four finish next term.

With Bale set to turn 30 before the new season though, there is every reason to believe he may be tempted out of Europe and there will be suitors from some of the financially strong competitive leagues elsewhere including MLS and the Chinese Super League.
