Roma vs Inter Milan Predictions

  • Full Time Result: Inter Milan Win
  • Correct Score: 0-2
  • Both Teams To Score: No
  • Over 2.5 Goals: No
  • First Goalscorer: Marcus Thuram

Inter wasted no time in dusting themselves down after last month’s shock derby-day defeat to AC Milan, winning their next three games and racking up 10 goals in the process.

The Nerazzurri are sat just two points behind current leaders Napoli and will be feeling confident ahead of this capital clash given they have won their last three meetings with Roma, netting seven goals along the way.

The Giallorossi endured a difficult start to the season under Daniele De Rossi – winning none of their opening four games – but have shown signs of improvement since appointing Ivan Juric, who has led his new side to two wins, two draws and just one loss in five matches.

That form may only get them so far against the champions, however, and with star striker Artem Dovbyk a doubt, they are unlikely to keep pace with Inter on Sunday.

Roma vs Inter Milan Tips

Tip 1

Inter’s derby defeat was just their second loss in 39 Serie A outings. With that in mind, they are certainly worth backing anytime you see them priced at a shade of odds-on in the Italian top-flight.

Simone Inzaghi’s side romped to the title last term – finishing 19 points clear of next-best AC – and they have more than enough talent to see off the challenge of Roma, whose last two results have not inspired much confidence.

A 1-0 defeat to Elfsborg in the Europa League was followed by a drab 1-1 draw with Monza and they are unlikely to get much change from Inter if they continue in the same fashion this weekend.

The champions have won four of their last six Serie A matches, drew 0-0 at a very strong Manchester City in the Champions League and are unbeaten in their last seven away matches against Roma.

Back Inter to land this capital clash.

Tip 2

One reason for Inter’s strong start to the season has been the form of Marcus Thuram, who has netted seven goals in as many Serie A games and  who signed off for the international break by bagging a hat-trick against Torino.

His reward for that form was a solitary minute for France during the October internationals, but that lack of game time will please Inzaghi as his star man will be fresh for this crucial time as a result.

Inter have netted 18 goals in their seven-match unbeaten run in away matches at Roma, a record which suggests the champions could get plenty of chances on Sunday.

Given Thuram netted in both matches against Roma last term while not being in the best scoring form, he is worth an investment to notch two or more this time round while his shooting boots are firmly on.
