Barcelona vs Sevilla Predictions
- Full Time Result: Barcelona Win
- Correct Score: 2-0
- Both Teams To Score: No
- Over 2.5 Goals: No
- First Goalscorer: Raphinha
The Blaugrana look set to be boosted by Gavi, who has been edging closer to a return after a lengthy rehabilitation from a knee ligament injury.
Flick will want to ease the Spanish midfielder back into the fold, aiming to build towards a start with ever-increasing minutes off the bench.
Frenkie de Jong is further down the line in his recovery from an ankle injury and, after two substitute appearances, could be ready to start for the first time since April.
Dani Olmo and Fermin may also be available again soon, but there have been doubts about the status of Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski.
Both players returned from international duty with minor issues and it remains to be seen if either will be risked on Sunday.
Goalkeeper Inaki Pena is likely to keep the number one role for now, despite expectations that recent signing Wojciech Szczesny will be named in the squad for the first time since he came out of retirement.
Sevilla will have to do without injured midfielders Saul Niguez and Djibril Sow, while centre-back Tanguy Kouassi will serve a suspension after he was sent off in the derby against Real Betis last time out.
Barcelona have dominated this clash in recent years, winning each of the last five meetings and conceding only once during that sequence.
Barcelona vs Sevilla Tips
- Barcelona – race to seven corners @ 10/11 with bet365
- Raphinha – anytime goalscorer @ 9/5 with BetMGM
- Half Time/Full Time Draw – Barcelona @ 10/3 with BetMGM
Tip 1
Flick’s side have been consistently racking up the corners at home this season with tallies of 10, seven and nine in their last three at Estadi Olímpic Lluis Companys.
Barca’s wide players usually see plenty of the ball and their midfield is not shy in switching the play out wide whenever possible.
That should lead to a glut of corners when they face a Sevilla team who are likely to be put under plenty of pressure when they defend their penalty area.
Barcelona won 13 corners in last season’s 1-0 home win over the Rojiblancos and a similar tally may be possible on Sunday.
Tip 2
Given the injury doubts over Yamal and Lewandowski, it may be sensible to look elsewhere in the anytime-goalscorer markets. Therefore, the outstanding candidate appears to be Raphinha.
The former Leeds winger has scored five La Liga goals in eight starts and one substitute appearance this season.
He doubled up for Brazil in their recent 4-0 World Cup qualifying win over Peru and has previously made a habit of notching against Sevilla.
The 27-year-old has scored in two of his three previous appearances against the Rojiblancos, so back him to strike again on Sunday.
Tip 3
Although Barcelona have won five La Liga games in a row against Sevilla, they have been made to toil for three points more often than not.
It took a 76th-minute own goal from Sergio Ramos to decide last season’s corresponding fixture, while Sevilla cancelled out Barca’s early opener at the Sanchez-Pizjuan before the break when they last met in May.
Sevilla were level at half-time in four of those five defeats and it would be no surprise if Garcia Pimenta’s side held out until the second half of Sunday’s contest.
The Rojiblancos have conceded only two first-half goals in their last five La Liga games.
