Norwich City vs Manchester United Match Preview
Manchester United got one monkey off their back on Thursday by winning away to Partizan Belgrade – and now aim to shrug off another with victory at Norwich.
Although the Red Devils had not tasted success anywhere other than Old Trafford since early March before their 1-0 Europa League win in the Serbian capital, you have to go back a week even further to find the last time they triumphed on their travels in the Premier League, 3-1 at Crystal Palace.
But in what has so far been an alarmingly poor season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, the past week has been more positive. They produced an improved performance, and nearly won, in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool and then four days later finally put a ‘W’ against their name for the first time in seven attempts against an admittedly limited Partizan outfit.
Norwich, meanwhile, have already beaten United’s local rivals Manchester City at Carrow Road this term, yet losing six of their nine Premier League matches since last season’s promotion means they are warm favourites to go straight back down.
The Canaries’ unpredictability is summed up by the fact that in their next home game after mastering the champions they lost 5-1 to Aston Villa…which was followed by their first clean sheet of the season in a 0-0 draw at Bournemouth!
The latter result could mean Daniel Farke’s side have tightened up at the back. That may not even matter so much against a goal-shy United team (see stats above), but the visitors are given one chance here to show they may just have turned a corner in the past week by taking advantage of one of their best opportunities to finally win again on the road.
