Mauritania vs Angola Match Preview
Angola snatched an important point in a 1-1 draw against Tunisia and they now hope to capitalize on it as they meet Mauritania on Saturday afternoon, looking to keep hold of a top 2 spot and make a great step towards the cut despite a tough challenge on Matchday 3 where they meet Mali on Tuesday.
Sable Antelopes have only seen a three-match winning streak ended on Matchday 1 and this should have them just as confident, with a 1-0 loss in Mauritania back in October being the only one in nine outings. Srdan Vasiljevic’s men have beaten Burkina Faso (2-1) and Botswana (0-1) in the Qualifiers as well as Guinea-Bissau (2-0) in their pre-tournament friendly and we now expect them in great shape.
Mauritania have shown a lot through their Qualifiers campaign and this has had many hoping they can serve as a dark horse in the group. However, a tough 4-1 loss to Mali on the opening day in Egypt dented such hopes and they now have to find ways to recuperate quickly.
Lions of Chinguetti have seen a similarly comfortable 3-1 loss to Benin beforehand and failed to build on the win earned over Madagascar (3-1) earlier in June, seeing their defensive woes emphasized. They will now want more but we feel Angola will have too much firepower for them to cope with now.
We still expect an exciting occasion but we’ll thus back Angola to secure the points, which comes at 3/4 with MyBet and has caught the eye of many in the know already – as Mauritania really failed to keep it together against Mali just days ago.
We should be in for goals, though, and this has us backing Over 2.5 Goals FT at an eye-catching 8/5 with Netbet. We’ve seen both sides scoring and conceding on the regular, which surely adds to such a belief and makes this appealing to those keeping faith we’ll see a winner in 90 minutes.
