Man City vs Brighton Predictions, Betting Tips & Match Preview

Joe Vaughan 03 Mar 2026
  • Manchester City suffered the agony of conceding an injury-time goal in Sunday’s 1-1 draw at home to Chelsea and will be looking for a response when hosting Brighton at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night in the Premier League (19:30 KO, live on Sky Sports Main Event).

Pep Guardiola’s side haven’t lost since November but they have fallen six points adrift of leaders Arsenal and can ill-afford to lose more ground on the Gunners, who have reeled off five successive Premier League victories.

The Citizens will need to quickly move on from their weekend frustrations because they are up against a dangerous Brighton side, who defeated them 2-1 at the Amex Stadium earlier in the campaign.

Why We’re Backing Brighton/Draw Double Chance @ 21/10 with Paddy Power

  • Manchester City have registered back-to-back Premier League draws for the first time since September 2024.
  • Brighton are unbeaten in their last three matches against Manchester City.
  • The Seagulls have scored in seven of their last nine fixtures.

Why We’re Backing Danny Welbeck to Score Anytime @ 3/1 with BetMGM

  • Welbeck is Brighton’s top Premier League marksman this season with eight goals in 19 appearances.
  • Manchester City have kept just one clean sheet in their last seven fixtures against Brighton.
  • As a former Manchester United and Arsenal player, Welbeck could be extra motivated to score against the Citizens. He is returning to the city of Manchester for the second time this season having netted in Brighton’s 4-2 loss at Old Trafford.

Player to Watch

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler likes to rotate his squad during busy periods and will be preparing to make another bunch of changes, including a probable recall to the starting XI for veteran striker Danny Welbeck.

While the 32-year-old Hurzeler is still learning his trade as a Premier League manager, the 35-year-old Welbeck can look back on a wealth of experience as a top-flight striker.

He joined Brighton on a free transfer in October 2020, signing an initial one-year-contract, and has gone on to make 157 league appearances for the club, scoring 41 goals.

Welbeck may have one eye on an unlikely return to the England squad and can give his chances a huge boost by scoring against a Manchester City side weakened by injuries to defensive trio John Stones, Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias.
