Brazil vs Colombia Tips

Tip 1

This qualifying campaign has been far from comfortable for Brazil and as a result they sit in fifth place in the South American table after 12 games, although with five points separating them from Bolivia they should be able to avoid a humiliating play-off fixture in order to secure their spot in the USA, Mexico and Canada in 2026.

In the last international break before the turn of the year, the Selecao were held to back-to-back draws with Uruguay and Venezuela, although they did at least manage to find the net in both of those games. In the two qualifiers prior to those ties, they scored six times in victories over Chile and Peru, scoring both sides of the half-time break in both of those games.

Colombia on the other hand were beaten in both of their November fixgtures, losing away in Uruguay and at home to Ecuador and shipping four goals in the process. Los Cafeteros may struggle with Brazil’s superior quality here and we’re backing Dorvial Junior’s men to take another step towards qualification with a few goals in a home win, so we’re on a goal for Brazil in both halves at 2/1 with bet365.

Tip 2

Raphinha is enjoying a career-defining season for Barcelona so far, having already racked up an impressive 27 club goals in all competitions including 11 in the Champions League and he’s backed that up with a further three in his last three for his country.

But for all of his ability in front of goal, Raphinha is usually a good bet for a card too. The former Leeds United man was booked in his last international appearance against Uruguay, his third of this qualifying campaign, alongside the five he’s been shown for his club so far this season.

We’re combining the odds on Raphinha to both score and get a card in this game for a small 12/1 bet-builder as the 28 year old is sure to steal the headlines at Arena Fonte Nova.

Brazil Form, Team News & Predicted Line-Up

Brazil’s qualifying campaign has been far from smoot running and as a result, the odds of Dorival Junior remaining in charge by the time the World Cup Finals come around next summer seem rather slim at this stage.

Canarinhos have won just four of their 12 qualifying games up to this point, losing to Paraguay and Argentina and also going down in the reverse of this fixture in Bogota back in November 2023.

Some of the more experienced members of Dorival’s squad will be missing for this game including goalkeeper Ederson, captain Danilo and Neymar, who misses out on the squad through injury after a fine start to life back in his home country with Santos, where he’s scored three times in seven games.

Brazil Predicted XI: Alisson, Vanderson, Marquinhos, Gabriel, Alex Sandro, Bruno Guimaraes, Gerson, Rodrygo, Raphinha, Vinicius Junior, Cunha

Colombia Form, Team News & Predicted Line-Up

Colombia started their qualifying campaign in excellent form, but after three defeats in their last four games they come into this fixture on the back of some less impressive performances and with just a one point gap separating them from their Thursday night opponents.

Having beaten both Brazil and Argentina earlier in the league phase, los Cafeteros will feel they should be in a more comfortable position, but in the last international break they were beaten 3-2 away at Uruguay before suffering a shock 0-1 home loss to Ecuador.

A couple of Premier League stars are missing from Nestor Lorenzo’s squad with Wolves’ Yerson Mosquera and Bournemouth’s Luis Sinisterra absent alongside Al-Taawoun attacker Roger Martinez and Juventus left-back Juan Cabal.

Colombia Predicted XI: Vargas, Munoz, Sanchez, Lucumi, Mojica, Rios, Lerma, Arias, James, Diaz, Duran

Brazil vs Colombia Head-to-Head Record

Unsurprisingly, Brazil have the upper hand when it comes to meetings between these two South American sides, losing only four of the 37 matches played between the two teams.

However, one of those four Colombia victories did come earlier in this qualifying campaign when a late Luis Diaz brace fired the Cafeteros to a famous win 2-1 in Barranquilla in November 2023.

The two teams have met since then at the Copa America in 2024, when goals from Raphinha and Daniel Munoz ensured a share of the spoils and progression to the knock-out stages for both teams from Group C.
