Dortmund have not been at their sharpest in the Bundesliga this season but head into this contest following a 4-0 thrashing of Freiburg last Saturday.

As for Bayern, they are the team to beat in the Bundesliga, having conjured up nine wins and two draws from their first 11 German top-flight matches under Vincent Kompany

Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich Tips

Tip 1

The away team prevailed in both editions of Der Klassiker last season with Dortmund winning 2-0 at the Allianz Arena in March after Bayern Munich had run out 4-0 winners at Signal Iduna Park last November.

But when the teams reconvene this weekend, the home side look worth backing.

Bayern have been irrepressible in the Bundesliga this term, taking 29 points from a possible 33, and they are also averaging more than three goals per game.

More impressive, however, is the defensive prowess they have demonstrated under former centre back Kompany, conceding a mere seven goals.

Bayern have reeled off seven successive wins to nil in all competitions, having last shipped when losing 4-1 to Barcelona near the end of October.

A win to nil might be beyond them given that this is taking place at Signal Iduna Park, where Dortmund will benefit from strong home support. But the visitors are still worth a bet to triumph and remain in control of the title race.

Tip 2

Tensions are often high in Der Klassiker and defender Dortmund’s Ramy Bensebaini could go into the referee’s book.

The left-back was shown a yellow card in his side’s 3-0 Champions League win over Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday when Dortmund weren’t seriously tested, so he could make the odd rash challenge up against Bayern’s Michael Olise or Leroy Sane on Saturday.

Bensebaini has already been shown five yellows in the Bundesliga this season and may again be cautioned.

Despite their improved performances of late, Dortmund have one of the worst disciplinary records in the German top tier, having accumulated 24 yellow cards and three reds in 11 matches.

Tip 3

Harry Kane is the obvious pick in the goalscorer markets, especially as the England striker bagged a hat-trick in the reverse fixture just over a year ago.

However, the better option to score first could be Jamal Musiala.

The midfield ace continues to go from strength to strength for Bayern, having scored five times in nine Bundesliga appearances this season.

Musiala scored the opening goal in games against Benfica and St Pauli earlier this month and he can break the deadlock against Die Schwarzgelben.
