Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen Predictions
- Full Time Result: Bayern Munich Win
- Correct Score: 3-2
- Both Teams To Score: Yes
- Over 2.5 Goals: Yes
- First Goalscorer: Harry Kane
Perennial Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich failed to mount much of a challenge for the title last season as they finished in third place, 18 points from unbeaten winners Leverkusen.
However, under new manager Vincent Kompany, Bayern look to have turned a corner and they have started the new campaign in scarily dominant fashion.
Saturday’s hosts have won all four matches in the league, scoring 16 goals – an average of four per game – and conceding just three times, two of which came in the opening-day victory over Wolfsburg (3-2).
Leverkusen saw their impressive domestic unbeaten run end on matchday two when they fell to a 3-2 home defeat to RB Leipzig, but they have followed up this loss with back-to-back victories – a 4-1 thrashing of Hoffenheim followed by a 4-3 comeback victory over Wolfsburg.
That seven-goal thriller last time out saw Victor Boniface score a 93rd-minute winner for Die Werkself and late goals have become their hallmark under Xabi Alonso, with more 40 goals scored past the 80th-minute mark since the Spaniard took charge in October 2022.
These late goals have been required due to slack defensive displays at times and the visitors cannot afford to be at anything but their best against an in-form Bayern side.
Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen Tips
Tip 1
Both Bayern and Leverkusen are capable of finding the back of the net on multiple occasions and a high-scoring encounter could be in store at the Allianz Arena.
The Bavarians have had a minimum of four goals scored in five of their six competitive matches this season, with an astonishing 11 strikes being converted in their last home fixture – a 9-2 thrashing of Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
Six of Leverkusen’s seven matches this season have also been winners in the over 3.5 goals market – the only loser being a 1-0 win in the DFB Pokal against lower-league Jena. With both sides expected to name full-strength sides, there should be more than enough quality on show for another winner in this one.
Tip 2
While Harry Kane has rightly taken the plaudits for his exploits in front of goal this season – registering nine goal contributions in the Bundesliga already – his supporting cast have also shown their qualities in front of goal.
One of these is winger Michael Olise, who has adapted to life in Germany seamlessly since his move from Crystal Palace in the summer.
The Frenchman has three goals and two assists in the Bundesliga this season and four of those goal contributions came in a man-of-the-match display at Werder Bremen last time out.
With the former Eagle in scintillating form, he looks a strong bet to have a hand in at least one goal on Saturday.
