Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona Match Preview
Atletico Madrid host Barcelona for their Matchday 15 derby clash on Sunday evening, desperate to bounce from their Champions League loss at Juventus (1-0) seen midway through the week and catch up with La Liga pace-setters with what shapes to be an upset in front of the home fans.
Indeed, Atleti have been far from convincing lately and we’ve seen them bag just one win in six outings across competitions, leaving for International duty on the back of a 3-1 win over Espanyol at this ground but failing to build on it after the break. They’ve been held off by Granada (1-1) last week and Diego Simeone now needs a quick fix.
Barcelona are not the best rivals to find it against, though, and they travel to Madrid on the back of a four-match winning streak which includes a convincing 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund midway through the week. They’ve been scoring numbers of goals on the regular lately and will hope to keep it up.
Blaugrana beat Celta (4-1) and Leganes (1-2) before and after the International break, respectively, and while they should be in for much more of a challenge here, it will be essential to build on the streak. We feel Ernesto Valverde’s men will be very motivated to make it happen and prove they’re in a better place at this point.
However, we don’t see them snatching all three points at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium and we’ll now rather stick our necks out for a Draw priced at 23/10 with William Hill – which looks like the best approach to the fixture despite Barca’s fine form of recent.
Indeed, Atleti have been a much tougher side to beat at this ground and they’ve proven it in head-to-head clashes lately too. We’ve been used to narrow clashes here and we’re now hoping for more of the same as we also go for a low-scoring contest with Under 2.5 Goals FT at 3/4 with BetVictor.
