Aston Villa vs PSG Tips

Tip 1

PSG’s third was a bitter pill for Villa to swallow in Paris last Wednesday, almost rendering the visitors’ chances of qualifying for the semi-finals as out of reach, however, it was a goal which fairly reflected the favourites’ dominance on the night.

Luis Enrique’s side have had almost an entire week to recover, while Villa didn’t rotate much in their 3-0 win over Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday; even requiring some fresh legs and familiar faces to tip the scoreline in their favour.

Of course the prospect of winning this game is far more achievable for the English club on home soil than it was in France, especially given their strong record at Villa Park, but PSG are also no slouches on the road either.

They were crowned Ligue 1 champions on match day 28, and have gone the entire campaign unbeaten so far, including their 14 league matches on the road, as well as edging out Liverpool at Anfield in their last-16 second leg to initiate the penalty shootout which saw them progress to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Villa have to throw caution to the wind if they are to pull off this miracle feat of overturning a two-goal deficit. That being said, this type of approach is only going to play into Paris Saint-Germain’s hands further.

Tip 2

Since joining the perennial French champions in January this year, Kvaratskhelia has contributed four goals and six assists to add to his tally of five goals and three assists while at Napoli.

He netted a superb goal last week to instate the home side’s lead and was instrumental to their dominance, putting in a virtually unplayable performance on the night.

Given how tough Villa found it to handle the Georgian when they were sitting in, having to play more openly and expansively to maintain that glimmer of hope in progressing is only going to afford him more space and more time to strut his stuff.

He’s hit a goal and an assist in the same match four times this season – once for his national side, twice for Napoli and once for his current employers – and odds of 14/1 appeal for our long ranged punt.

Aston Villa Form, Team News & Predicted Line-Up

AVFC maintained their strong league form in the chase for European football next season with a fairly routine 3-0 away win on the south coast on Saturday, however, two missed penalties from PSG loanee Marco Asensio became the major talking point of the game.

Villa have an almost perfect bill of health for this pivotal second leg tie, with Leon Bailey the only player not 100% fit, although the Jamaican may still be able to feature from the bench on Tuesday.

Aston Villa Predicted XI: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne; Kamara, Tielemans; Rogers, McGinn, Rashford; Watkins.

PSG Form, Team News & Predicted Line-Up

The Parisiens last featured in the 3-1 first leg between these teams, enjoying a much welcomed rest from league duties where they’ve already wrapped things up for a 13th French title.

Luis Enrique has a full squad to choose from with the return of his suspended captain Marquinhos, who had to sit out of last Wednesday’s first leg in the French capital.

PSG Predicted XI: Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Ruiz, Vitinha, Neves; Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia.
