Bet One – Inter Milan vs Slavia Prague – Home win to nil
Slavia Prague have been among the goals in the Czech Liga so far this season, but it’s a real step up in class when they return to Champions League action on Tuesday night. Their first opponents in the group stages are an Inter Milan side that will be well-drilled and well-organised under the management of former Chelsea and Juventus boss Antonio Conte. The Nerazzurri have won their first three competitive games under Conte, keeping two clean sheets in the process, so we’re backing another home win to nil here.
Bet Two – Benfica vs RB Leipzig – Draw
Benfica and RB Leipzig are two difficult teams to separate in what is surely the most open group in the Champions League. The bookmakers agree, with both teams being priced at 8/5 to win this one with Ladbrokes. On one hand, Benfica have more experience at this level and do have the home advantage, but RB Leipzig have started the campaign in blistering form and held Bayern Munich to a draw over the weekend. We envisage another share of the spoils here.
Bet Three – Chelsea vs Valencia – Over 3.5 goals
Goals have to be expected in this one. Chelsea ran out 2-4 winners in a thrilling Premier League fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers over the weekend, whilst Valencia were on the wrong end of a 5-2 scoreline in La Liga against Barcelona. Both of these sides look stronger going forward than they do defensively and indeed, four or more goals have been scored in the Blues’ last three Premier League matches so we’re backing the same for their first Champions League game of the season here.
Bet Four – Napoli vs Liverpool – Away win & BTTS
Liverpool have won their first five games of the Premier League season but they’ve only kept one clean sheet so far. They head to Napoli on Tuesday night full of confidence that they can overcome the Partenopei this time after they went down 1-0 at Stadio San Paulo in the group stages last season, but we don’t see them managing a shut out against the likes of Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne. The away win and both teams to score bet looks like good value here at 14/5.
Bet Five – Borussia Dortmund vs Barcelona – Over 4.5 goals
Even more goals have to be expected between two of the world’s most proficient attacking sides as Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona meet for the very first time in this competition. Blaugrana have scored 12 goals in their last three La Liga matches and boast the likes of Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann in their squad but they take on a BVB outfit that has managed 13 goals in just four Bundesliga appearances so far this season, including five from former Barca man Paco Alcacer.
