West Ham vs Chelsea Tips

Our Tip Methodology

At FootballTips, every prediction is shaped by a mix of data-driven analysis and informed football insight. Our contributors consider a wide range of factors before recommending a bet – from recent form and head-to-head records to tactical matchups, team news, and underlying stats.

We look for patterns in goal trends, home and away splits, player performance, and betting market movement to identify where the value lies. We don’t just tip favourites – we aim to find selections that offer a genuine edge. Whether it’s a goalscorer angle, a BTTS trend, or a high-priced underdog, each tip is backed by research and reasoning to help you bet smarter.

Why We’re Backing Draw-Chelsea Half-Time/Full-Time @ 4/1 with Sky Bet

  • Both these teams fired blanks on the opening weekend. Chelsea were held by Crystal Palace while West Ham were eventually crushed 3-0 by Sunderland in what amounted to a worrying start for the Hammers and boss Graham Potter.
  • Palace, last season’s FA Cup winners and the Community Shield heroes on the eve of the season, were organised and well drilled at Stamford Bridge and merited their point. They contained and frustrated Chelsea, who were admittedly timid in going forward.
  • It is difficult to see this West Ham side being quite so stubborn based on their Stadium of Light surrender despite having 63 per-cent possession.
  • Chelsea dominated the ball last weekend but lacked a killer touch. Just two of the Blues’ last 13 Premier League goals have come before half-time. They should have too much for West Ham but don’t be shocked if the teams are level at the break before Chelsea engineer a win.

Why We’re Backing Cole Palmer to Score First @ 19/4 with SpreadEx

  • Cole Palmer remains the go-to man for Chelsea in the attacking third. Like many of his teammates, he failed to ignite against Palace and was a frustrated figure by the end.
  • The playmaker has started three times for Chelsea against the Hammers in the Premier League and has two goals and one assist.
  • He got the opener when the sides met at Stamford Bridge in 2023/24 and can break the deadlock here.

West Ham United Form/Stats

  • West Ham have won just one of their last eight home Premier League game.
  • West Ham have won four of their last eight home Premier League games against Chelsea (D2 L2).
  • Graham Potter has never beaten Chelsea in seven attempts as a manager.

Chelsea Form/Stats

  • Chelsea have won only two of their last 11 away league fixtures.
  • Chelsea have scored only two of their last 13 Premier League goals in the first half.

Player to Watch

Cole Palmer scored 15 goals and enjoyed eight assists last season, starting 37 Premier League games and coming off the bench in the other.

Having scored 22 in the 2023/24 campaign, Palmer was well on his way to beating that tally when he netted at Bournemouth in January but he would score just one more goal – a penalty – in the league thereafter.

He had four shots against Crystal Palace last week and failed to find the target with any.

Man-of-the-match Palmer scored the first two goals and set up the third in a surprise 3-0 victory over Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final in July. Chelsea desperately need to see that sort of form from him soon.
