Sky Bet League One Predictions

League One fixtures notoriously cause issues for online sports books, particularly at the start of the season. Each year seven new teams – three relegated from the Championship and four promoted from League Two – enter the league, which amounts to almost one third of participating teams.

Games between new sides and established third tier sides can be very hard to predict unless you really know your stuff, and sports books may give odds that are too generous or are not generous enough.

We at Football Bets are 'in the know' more than most, and – dare we say it – more 'in the know' than many of the many dozens of sports books that are now available on the internet. We take the 'newness' factor into consideration when it comes to our predictions, so we are better placed than most to give you the best betting tips when it comes to League One games.

We also of course provide tips on established League One sides, using all the knowledge we've acquired over the course of our football betting history.

League 1 Betting Tips

When it comes to selecting the outright winner of League One each term, making the right choice can at times seem to be something of a minefield. When it comes to the Championship, unless a club is in free-fall (as Sunderland were from 2016 onwards) a freshly-relegated side from the Premier League comes ready-equipped with talented players and a chunky bankroll, and often such sides bounce right back up.

As the standard in the bottom half of the Championship is not much different from that in the top half of League One, teams that have just been relegated from the second tier do not find it so easy to find the 'bouncebackability' factor.

We take all this into consideration when thinking about outrights when it comes to League One. We also provide betting tips for all games that take place at League One level, too, taking into consideration as many aspects of each match-up as possible.

We provide winners and losers plus all our thoughts on any other markets that we feel worthy of placing a punt upon, such as BTTS (both teams to score) and how many goals are likely to be scored in the game.

When do we publish League One tips?

If you're in the hunt for the best League One betting tips, then you're going to want to know exactly when you're going to find them on our site. The answer to that question is one to two days before the match in question kicks off.

You may ask yourself why do we wait until we are so close to the event? The answer is that we feel that to give the best tips we need to be in possession of as much information about the match in question, and some of it is simply not available until the very lead up to the game. For example, while it is known well in advance if players are not going to be available because of suspension or a long-term injury, it's less obvious if a side has a key player with a slight knock, and their likelihood of making it into the starting line-ups.

When it comes to the task of making the best sporting tips, we think that knowledge is power, and we aim to make our football tips as powerful as possible. One to two days should give you as much chance as possible to sort the League One betting tips and getting your bets on at your favourite sports book.

Why trust our tips?

We do all the hard work, mainly so that you don't have to. If you really want to become a football betting expert, then there's no alternative but to really put the hours in. You just cannot simply stare at a list of fixtures and pick out the winners and losers after a few minutes of deliberation – finding value bets is a lot more involved than that!

Additionally, there's a lot more to football betting than simply picking the winners and the losers. Each separate game will come with a host of potential markets – which side is most likely to be leading at half time, for example, or which player is most likely to score a brace. Providing tips you can trust involves much more than us picking out the dead certs that any fool can see simply are not going to lose.

You can trust our tips because as a football tipster site we want to be successful, and we can only be successful if you are successful too. We really do all that we can, including studying in fine detail every aspect of each game that has the potential to swing the result one way or another.

League 1 at a glance

The third tier of league football in the UK consists of twenty-four teams, all competing for the chance of playing their football in the Championship the following season. The top two teams at the end of the season are promoted to the second-tier Championship, while the teams finishing from third to sixth qualify for the promotion playoffs. The side that wins the playoffs also qualifies to play at a higher level next season.

League One is unique in the football league system as it is the only league division where four teams are relegated, as opposed to three from the Premier League and Championship, and two from League Two. This means that each season seven teams depart League One and seven teams are freshly entered into it.

While 'common faces' usually make up the bulk of League One teams, some 'big' sides have found themselves as low as the third tier in recent years including Manchester City, Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers.
