More Football Tips For Today & This Weekend

What is our Bet of the Day?

Each day, our tipping experts scour the football world for the best value bets we can find. This is not the bet that we think has the best chance of being a successful one – that would be too easy! It's the bet that we think represents the chances of the best return for the odds being offered, and therefore is the one that's likely to give you the most money back.

Obviously, anyone can tip the runaway leaders of any of the best divisions in the UK or the leading leagues in Europe to hammer a basement-dweller, but sportsbooks come up with their prices based on the likelihood of one of the teams winning, or the chances of a draw.

A dead cert means low odds, and with low odds you (a) are not going to get back much of a return if you do happen to wager upon the game and (b) should there be an upset you are risking too much cash that you'll therefore lose, balanced with a return amount that's relatively pointless.

The aim of our Bet of the Day is to find the price of an event that we think the bookmakers have under or over-estimated. We search through the many dozens of football fixtures available daily for the event that's going to bring in a decent amount of winnings if our predicted outcome is what actually goes down once the man in black (or green) has blown the final whistle.

This is what is meant as a 'value bet' – it's all about gaining the biggest possible edge over your chosen sportsbook or the taker of your bet if you prefer to use a sports betting exchange.

What tips do you include in the Bet of the Day?

We don't just tip winners and losers as that would not be the best way of bashing the bookies! There are many different types of bet that we recommend as our bet of the day, as follows:

Singles, doubles and trebles

Occasionally our 'Bet of the Day' will be a simple single – we'll tell you which team you should back in an individual match or if we think a game is a cast-iron cert to end all-square.

On occasions we might suggest combining two single bets to make it a double, or three single bets to make it into a treble. If you're not happy with doubling or tripling up, then just bet on the games we recommend as singles.

Both teams to score (BTTS)

These type of bets are becoming increasingly popular as backing a game as a BTTS bet is more exciting (and usually more profitable) than a straight single. A BTTS bet also has the possibility of ending up a winning one right until the final whistle, plus once both teams have scored your bet's a winner no matter what else might happen during the rest of the game.

Correct score

Correct score tips are perhaps the hardest to be accurate with, but they bring in the most rewards in terms of cash winnings. They are certainly more profitable than singles, and we only bring you correct score tips if we feel there is a real chance of them coming up trumps. We are certainly more 'in the know' than sportsbooks when it comes to predicting the correct score.

Over / under 2.5 goals

This is another bet that's gained in popularity in the last couple of years. With this wager you can bet on whether a game is likely to feature zero, one or two goals (under 2.5 goals) or more than two goals (over 2.5 goals). We'll hunt for the best tips where we think games are odds-on to be lacking in goals or where both goalkeepers are likely to have bad backs by the end of the match.

When do we publish our best football tip?

The short answer to that is every day – or at least every day when there's a football match or two on. As you might expect, the majority of our tips will be placed during the football season itself, or at least the football seasons of the main UK divisions and leagues, and leagues in Europe.

Matches take place virtually every day now – long gone are the days when the majority of games took place on a Saturday (or a Sunday for European games) with the odd midweek match on a Wednesday, or occasionally on a Tuesday. Thanks to TV coverage the footballing 'weekend' now begins on a Friday and will continue right through until Monday. Also, thanks to TV the main European competitions are played throughout the week – the UEFA Champions League on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and the UEFA Europa League on Thursdays. In midweek you'll find games from the UK's 'league' cup competitions and national cup replays.

Naturally, that's just covering the UK and Europe – football is the only truly global game, meaning leagues are in action all around the globe and all around the calendar. We will bring you daily tips for international games, especially during the World Cup Finals and European Championship which are played during the summer. So visit us daily to find our Bet of the Day but rest assured there is one thing we don't do – tip for the sake of it. If there's nothing worth betting on, then we don't offer tips just for the sake of tipping.

Which leagues and competitions do we cover?

As are we a UK-based site the majority of our focus will be upon the major leagues in the UK, so that's the English Premier League, the Football League Championship, League One and League Two in England and the Scottish Premiership, Championship, League One and League Two in Scotland.

As well as league football we will also offer the best betting tips for the UK's leading cup competitions – the FA Cup, the Football League Cup and the Football League Trophy in England plus the Scottish FA Cup, Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Challenge Cup.

We also provide decent coverage of all the major leagues in Europe such as La Liga in Spain, Serie A in Italy, Ligue One in France and the Bundesliga in Germany, as well as the top divisions of most European countries. As you might expect, we offer excellent coverage of the UEFA European Champions League and the UEFA Europa League, especially when the group stages are over with and the competition really gets going.

International football is on our radar too – both friendlies and international tournaments. In Europe we will cover all stages of the European Championship, while the rest of the world will be covered during both the qualification and final stages of the FIFA World Cup.
