Expert Tips From Award-Winning Tipsters

The team here at FootballTips have been providing reliable tips for years, see what our experts are predicting.

Football Pundits Predictions

If you were to pick anyone to provide the best and most accurate football tips going, you'd perhaps pick someone with insider knowledge of the game – and we're not taking dodgy info here! Thanks to the proliferation of media channels in this internet age, there are plenty of opportunities for former football heroes to gain employment by working for media outlets such as the BBC, SkySports and BTSport.

As part of their coverage of the game, many former pros do indeed share their weekly tips with the general football-loving public. On the mainstream BBC channels a handful of the top former players who didn't go into post-career coaching or management (or running a pub) instead give their weekly opinions on the games that matter, including tips for which teams they think are going to emerge victorious, and which teams are likely to end the match with no more league points than they started it with.

Other pundits are more sports-betting orientated, selecting the games upon which your money should be placed in order to win a little extra. These tips may be '1X2' orientated, or venture into more oblique markets such as BTTS, greater or less than 2.5 goals or correct score forecasts.

Meet the Pundits

Mark Lawrenson

The dour former Liverpool and Ireland defender has been part of the BBC's football coverage since 2000 and has a regular column on the BBC's website. He gives his verdict on every EPL game each week, and at the end of the 2017-18 season a report proved his predictions to be reasonably accurate while pointing out that he never backed his old team Liverpool to lose.

Robbie Savage

The outspoken midfielder failed at Manchester United but went on to become a 'robust' player with Leicester City, Derby County and others. Since 2010 he has been a voice in the media, mainly for BBC Radio 5 Live, BT Sport and occasionally on TV too. Savage is also a regular provider of football tips, and once worked as an ambassador for William Hill.

Michael Owen

Owen really hit the football heights as an outstanding goalscorer with Liverpool and England. Injuries ruined his career though and following spells with Real Madrid, Newcastle, Manchester United and Stoke City Owen was forced to hang up his boots in 2013 at the age of thirty-four. Recently Owen has been working for BetVictor and providing weekly football tips.

Jamie Redknapp

The son of legendary football manager Harry Redknapp, Jamie Redknapp had a promising career as a talented midfielder with Liverpool and England blighted by a series of injuries. He eventually retired in 2005 aged only thirty-one, moving into punditry with the BBC with immediate effect. He now usually works for Sky Sports and the Daily Mail, regularly giving his views and tips on the biggest games of the day.

What leagues do pundits offer predictions on?

The main focus for pundits Is on UK football, but occasionally they'll give their opinions on leagues and competitions much further afield.

English Premier League

The EPL is the most cash-laden league in all of the world, and every team in the top division of English football ends up earning tons of money – in 2017/18, even the team that finished bottom of the league, West Brom, earned £95m from EPL payments. Pundits are always keen to offer tips on weekly EPL games.

Football League Championship

The second biggest league in the UK, and also possibly the most competitive. Each season twenty-four teams battle to rise into the gold-paved streets of the Premier League or to escape the dreaded drop into the obscurity of League One. Ex-pros will often offer their verdicts on FLC matches.

Scottish Professional Football League

Although Scottish football has been dominated by Celtic for several years now, there are signs that other competing teams in the league – namely Aberdeen, Rangers and Hearts – are beginning to narrow the gap. Although considered secondary to English football, the games' leading pundits will give their views and tips for the top games in Scotland.

The UEFA Champions League

In terms of revenue, the UEFA Champions League is probably the biggest sporting contest in the entire sporting universe. In 2017, the winners of the competition, Real Madrid, netted around €90 million from prize money alone, never mind TV revenue. Interest in this competition and to a lesser extent, the UEFA Europa League, means that pundits are usually keen to share their views and wagering tips.

European Football Leagues

Thanks to TV coverage and the internet, football fans find it easy to keep right on top of the leading matches in the top European football leagues, and pundits will give their opinions too on a regular basis. The main leagues of interest are La Liga (Spain), Ligue One (France), the Bundesliga (Germany) and Serie A (Italy).

When can I find pundits predictions?

We hunt around for the best and most reliable pundits prediction picks and publish them here as soon as we find them. It's a service we provide just out of interest – how you may feel about the accuracy of pundits' picks is up to you!

We do take heed of what the pundits say when they make their predictions – they are the guys whom have been right inside the game, of course – but we don't always agree with them. It's just another weapon in our arsenal of football tipping skills, and we use it as we feel appropriate. It's our job to bring you only the very, very best tips going, after all.

Pundits vs Expert Tipsters – Who wins?

As we mentioned above, during the 2017-18 EPL season top BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson failed to tip Liverpool to lose one single game all season – and they ended up losing five. He also tipped Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United to do far better than they actually did.

It's a habit of football pundits to tip their former sides and the biggest teams for glory, and while that may seem a decent betting strategy, the unbiased views of football tipping experts usually score higher in the accuracy stakes. It's a close-run thing, but we have to say expert tipsters are more likely to be successful in the long term.
