Tottenham vs Man City Betting Tips

Betting movement ahead of City’s trip to Spurs has been all one-way over the last week. A week ago City were 4/6 with LiveScore Bet (in to 17/20), while Tottenham were 16/5 with Betfred.

They now go 23/10 Ange Postecoglou’s men, who are best at 5/2 with Unibet, BetMGM and Betway.

Tottenham team news

Spurs came out of the weekend in 12th place following Saturday’s 4-1 win at Ipswich, a third successive league win, with their hopes of a first trophy in 17 years resting on their ability to see off Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in the last 16 of the Europa League.

Spurs’ boss Ange Postecoglou is still missing a stack of players, among them defenders Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero and frontmen Richarlison and Dominic Solanke.

Despite that, the Australian is unlikely to deviate from his attack-minded 4-3-3 set-up, which has ensured that his team’s matches are the most entertaining in the top flight in terms, averaging 3.50 a time.

Man City team news

It has been a disappointing week for City, bundled out of the Champions League by Real Madrid last Wednesday and then humbled 2-0 at home on Sunday by Liverpool, the team who are odds-on to take their champions’ crown.

City boss Pep Guardiola has had to deal with a share of key injuries with Erling Haaland the latest absentee.

But City have looked ragged defensively since the autumn and it’s their away form which is proving so costly.

Over the last couple of months they have been hammered at the likes of Sporting Lisbon, PSG and Arsenal, and they have kept only two clean sheets – at hapless Ipswich and Leicester – in their last 16 road games.

Tottenham vs Man City Head-to-Head Statistics

You have to go back to 2016 for the last time Tottenham won three in a row against Manchester City, but that’s one of the prizes on the line on Wednesday night.

Goals from Timo Werner and Pape Sarr earned Tottenham a 2-1 League Cup win over City in September, while they trumped that spectacularly in November by going to The Etihad and winning 4-0 in the Premier League.

City won 2-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last May, snapping a four-game losing streak at Spurs in the league.

Key Players to Watch

Brennan Johnson scored two goals from three shots in Saturday’s 4-1 win at Ipswich, though it was Son Heung-min’s dashing display which delighted Spurs’ fans and management.

It’s three goals in two months for the South Korean, who has looked flat by the high standards he has set over recent campaigns.

City’s Erling Haaland has 27 goals this season yet, like Son, is not hitting the heights of past campaigns.

Of more concern would be the dips in form of Kevin de Bruyne – one league goal since August – and Phil Foden, both of whom appear off-colour.

Predicted Lineups

A question mark over City striker Haaland’s fitness has dominated the build-up to this match, while Spurs continue to be without a number of first-team stars.

Expected starting XI for Tottenham: Vicario; Porro, Danso, Davies, Spence; Maddison, Bentancur, Sarr; Kulusevski, Johnson, Son.

Expected starting XI for Manchester City: Ederson; Lewis, Dias, Ake, Gvardiol; Gonzalez; Savinho, Gundogan, Foden, Doku; Haaland.
