Wycombe vs Portsmouth Match Preview
Portsmouth travel to Wycombe for their Matchday 41 clash on Saturday afternoon looking to build on a great EFL Trophy win over Sunderland (on penalties after a 2-2 draw) as well as a four-match winning streak across competitions.
Pompey now sit just five points behind 2nd placed Barnsley with a game in hand and after beating Walsall (2-3), Scunthorpe United (2-0), and Shrewsbury (0-2) with great confidence in the final third, we’re bound to see them just as motivated to keep it up. They’ve been led by an in-form Jamal Lowe as they saw goals coming from all directions and we now hope to see them in great shape once again.
Wycombe have, on the other hand, been far from their best and dropped into the danger zone with a troubled spell of form behind them. They’ve earned just one point in their last eight outings and saw losses to Accrington Stanley (1-3), Shrewsbury Town (2-1), and Oxford (2-1) despite finding the net on all occasions.
Wanderers have indeed struggled to keep it together at the back and defensive errors prove costly time and time again, as a loss at Adams Park could as well see them drop into the relegation zone with a thriller chase to keep hold of their League One status looming late in the campaign.
We do feel Portsmouth now have what it takes to capitalize on such woes and we’ll now stick with an Away win, which comes at 11/10 with bet365 and has already caught the eye of many in the know.
However, we feel the visitors will have to outgun Wycombe to snatch the points as we head into another exciting clash in Buckinghamshire and back a Yes on Both teams to score at 17/20 with Paddy Power.
