Wycombe vs Coventry Match Preview
Wycombe host Coventry for their Matchday 24 clash on Sunday afternoon with a streak of two losses behind them, seeing both Oxford (1-0) and Portsmouth (2-0) deny them points over the past seven days. They still sit top of the table and six points clear of Ipswich, who do have a game in hand, but finding a quick fix will be crucial for Gareth Ainsworth.
Wanderers have been tougher to score against in front of the home fans and they have proven it lately, beating Doncaster (1-0) and Burton (2-0) in their last two outings here mainly thanks to such performances at the back. They will now surely want more of the same despite a tougher challenge expected.
Indeed, Coventry beat Lincoln (1-0) last week and lifted their team spirits once again, sitting just a point behind the top 6 and holding a game in hand to both 4th placed Peterborough and 5th placed Rotherham. They have struggled to impress on the road, though, and this could be more worrying.
Sky Blues bagged just two wins in last ten away games and while the 1-2 upset at Ipswich in FA Cup comes off as a great boost to their confidence, it’s obvious they have a lot to work on. Mark Robins’ men failed to find the net on five of those occasions and the battle for the Promotion Play-offs spot will surely ask for more on display when away from home.
We don’t really see them making it happen, though, and we feel Wycombe will now have what it takes to bounce. We’ll thus go for the Wanderers to secure all three points in a Home win priced at 8/5 with bet365, which looks like great value.
We do feel we’re in for a very narrow occasion and slim margins could make all the difference here. We’ve gotten used to such occasions on both ends lately and we’re now backing a low-scoring contest at Adams Park with Under 2.5 Goals FT at 7/10 with BetVictor.
