Wolves vs Watford Predictions
Wolves were terrific in their first season back in the Premier League, finishing in seventh place to secure a spot in the Europa League and after negotiating the qualifying stages for that competition they looked a good bet to kick on for another successful season this time around, but that has not been the case thus far. With six games on the board, the Midlands outfit sit second bottom with no wins to their name as yet.
We’ve seen teams struggle to combine European ambition with Premier League stability in the past and it would appear as though Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are struggling with that same issue so far this season. A penalty shoot-out was required to overcome Reading in the EFL Cup last week – but a win is a win after all and the men in gold will be hoping to build on that by earning their first three points of the season here at 10/11 with Coral.
The only team that have had an even worse start to the season than Wolves so far is Watford, who became the first team in the Premier League to dismiss their manager this term. Javi Gracia was replaced by the returning Quique Sanchez Flores with the Hertfordshire outfit picking up just one point from their first four games although the new boss has picked up just one point from an available six so far himself.
A comeback against Arsenal in his opening game ended in a 2-2 draw but last week the Hornets were on the end of one of the heaviest defeats in Premier League history as they went down 8-0 at the hands of reigning champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. This is another tough fixture for the visitors, but they’ll feel they have more chance of winning this one at odds of 15/4 with Bet365.
We’re backing a narrow home win here and Wolves to finally pick up their first victory of the campaign. Given how difficult their season has been so far, it’s unlikely to be a thumping win, but Watford’s confidence will have been dented again by that defeat at Manchester City last weekend we can see the men in gold’s superior quality and home advantage edging them through to a narrow win by a single goal margin at 11/4 with Bet365.
In Raul Jimenez, Wolves have a striker they can rely on to get the goals they need to be a success this season. The Mexican has scored twice in six Premier League games so far and added a further six in seven Europa League appearances. The 28 year old is available at 13/10 with Ladbrokes to score at any time in this one and thats our second recommended bet for this game.
