Wolves vs Shrewsbury Town Match Preview
Wolves have won their last three home games against Premier League opposition and are very short odds to ensure third-tier club Shrewsbury Town go the same way.
In the previous round of the FA Cup, Wolves knocked out a Liverpool side who gave the distinct impression this competition was a long way from being their top priority.
Leicester and West Ham have been beaten at Molineux since then, so it is no surprise that the bookmakers give Shrewsbury little chance of causing an upset in this fourth-round replay.
In saying that, though, the Shrews very nearly ensured Nuno Espirito Santo’s side did not get a second bite of the cherry. The League One club led 2-1 entering the closing stages but conceded a last-gasp equaliser from Matt Doherty.
It was a terrific effort from Shrewsbury, who have become a more difficult team to beat since Sam Ricketts, a former Wolves player, took charge of them in early December – the former Wales defender lost only four of his first 14 matches at the helm.
They will be doing extremely well to avoid defeat here, however, despite having won at Stoke in the previous round. That replay finished 3-2 to Shrewsbury and there is plenty of evidence from the recent scorelines of both these teams to suggest the goals will flow again.
