Wolves vs Newcastle United Match Preview
Newcastle’s creditable away record this season gives them a chance of gaining a reward on their trip to face a Wolves side who must be starting to dream of playing European football.
The Magpies have travelled to face five of the ‘big six’ already and while they lost each time, only Liverpool beat them by more than a one-goal margin.
And those are the only league defeats Newcastle have had on the road, so they have remained unbeaten in their seven away tests against clubs outside of the top six.
That will give them encouragement for the visit to Molineux, where the Geordies’ new record signing Miguel Almiron could play some part after receiving his work permit last week.
Wolves are odds-on favourites here, being in good form after four wins out of five, and they ought to know that if they can stay in seventh position and either Chelsea or one of the two Manchester clubs wins the FA Cup, they will qualify for next season’s Europa League.
That is far from cut and dried, however, and the same is true of Newcastle staying in the top flight, but there looks to be some value in backing Rafael Benitez’s side to add another point to their tally in this game.
