Wolves vs Leicester City Match Preview
Claude Puel became the clear favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave his job after David Wagner’s departure from Huddersfield this week, but can boost his job prospects with a victory at Wolves.
The Frenchman was the subject of an almost apologetic-looking ‘Puel Out’ placard during last weekend’s home defeat to Southampton, which followed Leicester’s FA Cup exit against League Two club Newport.
Those losses, plus a 1-0 home reverse to Cardiff, are in complete contrast to the victories around the festive period against Manchester City, Chelsea and Everton which have kept the Foxes in a healthy eighth position and, presumably, Puel in his job.
Wolves away is just the sort of game Leicester will go and win to, pardon the pun, keep the wolf from the door as far as the manager is concerned. As at Southampton, he tends to do just enough to stave off the sack during the season, but long-term he is probably not the solution.
The stats above highlight Wolves’ dodgy recent home record and they will have key defender Willy Boly suspended here after his red card in Monday’s 3-0 loss at Manchester City, so the odds for a Leicester victory are particularly tempting.
