Western Sydney Wanderers vs Sydney Match Preview

After beating them twice this term already, Western Sydney Wanderers host A-League pace-setters Sydney for their Matchday 24 clash on Saturday in hope they can build on the streak and bag important points in a top 6 chase – as Jean-Paul de Marigny’s men sit just two points behind 6th placed Western United.

Wanderers beat Adelaide United (5-2) in a seven-goal thriller last time out in front of the home fans and snatched the points at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium with a single goal from Mitchell Duke but failed to build on the success seen late in February. They’ve seen a disappointing loss at Brisbane Roar (3-1) but snatched an important point at Melbourne City (1-1), which has many arguing an unpredictable run.

Sydney, on the other hand, top the table with a ten-point gap behind them but have seen a more unpredictable streak lately. They bagged just one win in their last four outings across competitions, denied points by Jeonbuk Motors (2-2 draw in AFC Champions League) and Perth Glory (0-0 in A-League) as well.

Sky Blues beat Melbourne Victory (1-4) along the way and we have seen them scoring numbers of goals on the road regularly. They bagged 14 on their last five league trips and were denied a win just once along the way, but it’s fair to say Steve Corica has to find a quick fix for his men’s team spirits.

We feel they could have trouble against the city rivals once again, though, and we’re now sticking our necks out for a Draw at 5/2 with bet365. We’ve seen both sides solid up front lately and we should be in for thrills but this feels like the best approach to the fixture.

Seeing both sides’ recent records, going for a Yes on Both teams to score looks like more of a banker bet at this point and comes at 8/13 with bet365. We have seen goals on both ends in five of the Wanderers’ last six outings as well as two of Sydney’s respective last three, which feels like further evidence for such a bet.
