West Ham vs Tottenham Predictions
West Ham’s early season form has really dissipated in the last few weeks. The Hammers enjoyed a terrific start to the campaign, going six games unbeaten in all competitions following an opening day defeat to reigning champions Manchester City, and some supporters may have sensed a rather exciting campaign, particularly given the confident nature of wins over Brighton & Hove Albion and Manchester United.
A 4-0 defeat to League One outfit Oxford United in the EFL Cup appears to have severely hurt Manuel Pellegrini’s side though as they’ve now gone six games without picking up a win, losing four of those matches including home fixtures against Crystal Palace and Newcastle United at the London Stadium. It would be some way to return to form beating rivals Tottenham on their new boss’ first game in charge at odds of 3/1 with William Hill.
That new boss is the man the cameras will no doubt be focused upon this Saturday afternoon. The footballing world was shocked on Tuesday night by the news that Mauricio Pochettino had left Tottenham Hotspur after five years at the helm but the news outlets were perhaps even more shocked when his successor, former Manchester United and Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, was named the morning after.
Although the long-term goal is clearly for Mourinho to take the Lilywhites to the next level to start winning silverware, the short-term goal will be to turn the team’s fortunes in the league, where they have struggled for form for quite some time and come into this London derby on the back of a five game winless streak. Can they live up to their pre-match billing as favourites to earn a huge three points here at 22/25 with Unibet.
With players only just coming back from an international break, Mourinho won’t have much time to work with his new team ahead of this game and Spurs’ away form in the Premier League has been woeful in 2019 – they’ve picked up just three points from an available 36 in their last 12 away games in the league. West Ham haven’t been great of late but we expect them to raise their game for this derby fixture and pick up at least a point on the double chance market at evens with Unibet.
Harry Kane has been among the goals for England once again during the international break, banging in four goals during wins over Kosovo and Montenegro. The striker hasn’t been in his best form so far this season but has still managed to score six goals in his 11 Premier League outings and always a man for the big occasion, we fancy him to get on the scoresheet in this one at 5/6 with Ladbrokes.
