West Ham United vs Manchester United Match Preview

Manchester United’s highly unconvincing away form is put to another big test when they visit a West Ham side with whom they are level on points in the Premier League table after five matches.

The Red Devils have not won on their travels since that remarkable Champions League triumph at Paris Saint-Germain in early March, and their latest domestic away triumph was at Crystal Palace a week earlier.

This term, United have bossed their visits to Wolves and Southampton and led at half time in both, but found a way to draw 1-1 – following the equaliser in each game they missed a penalty at Molineux and failed to break down a Saints team reduced to 10 men.

It will be no easier at West Ham, who thrashed a dismal United side 3-1 almost a year ago and look to have improved this season, especially defensively having currently gone 343 minutes in league and cup games without conceding a goal.

The Hammers will have Arthur Masuaku suspended after his red card at Aston Villa on Monday, however, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes injured trio Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw can return in addition to Jesse Lingard following his bout of illness.

Both of these teams are finding it easier to keep out goals than notch them at present so a low-scoring encounter is expected – and one that may well end all-square as United are yet to show they can be trusted to turn their dominance on the road into victories.
