West Ham United vs Leicester City Match Preview

Only five points separate these clubs in the Premier League table, but you would think it was more judging by how strongly the bookmakers fancy Leicester to win away from home.

It really does look a more open contest than the odds suggest and we think West Ham are well capable of holding the visitors based upon their 2019 home form in general.

Admittedly the Hammers were beaten by Everton last time out at the London Stadium, but previously they had been undefeated there in this calendar year with five wins, including against Arsenal, and two draws of which one was with Liverpool.

The stats above reveal that West Ham’s recent points haul has been fairly meagre, but they were unlucky to lose 2-1 at Manchester United last weekend when their manager Manuel Pellegrini justifiably argued that incorrect decisions from the officials had gone against them.

Leicester, meanwhile, had been going along very nicely with four straight wins under Brendan Rodgers until they came unstuck 1-0 at home to Newcastle as their opponents proved impossible to break down and very effective on the counter-attack.

This will be a different kind of game for the Foxes, but they definitely look too short at their odds to win this match and the draw offers much better value – especially given West Ham’s strong home record for the first three months of this year.
