West Ham United vs Everton Match Preview
David Moyes faces his former club Everton hoping his first home match during his second spell in charge of West Ham was a sign of things to come.
Only two days after returning to the Hammers, Moyes saw his team win 4-0 at home to Bournemouth, being three up within 35 minutes as they started to banish the harrowing memories of five defeats and one draw in their previous six games at the London Stadium.
After a workmanlike FA Cup success at Gillingham, the ex-Everton and Manchester United manager lost his 100% record this time around with a 1-0 loss at Sheffield United – and now he goes up against the fifth man to have followed him in the Goodison Park hotseat.
That, of course, is Carlo Ancelotti, whose start with the Toffees has been a mixed bag – an FA Cup defeat to Liverpool’s kids was horribly sticky but wins over Burnley, Newcastle and Brighton tasted sweet.
On the whole, there have been more positives than negatives for the Italian so far and it is worth remembering that one of Everton’s best performances this term under the sacked Marco Silva was a 2-0 home win against West Ham.
One of these newly-appointed managers has a chance to start building some real momentum here and with the higher-quality squad at his disposal, we are backing Ancelotti to come out on top.
