West Brom vs Preston Match Preview

West Brom suffered a second successive defeat in midweek as they went down on Tuesday night 3-2 at Bristol City.  They had been three behind in just 19 minutes and despite a goal each from Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez could not find an equalizer.  They sit stuck in fourth with automatic promotion beyond them but only needed another couple of wins to confirm a top six finish.

They sit in fourth place in the table and are seven points behind Sheffield United who occupy second and an automatic promotion spot.  Four of the six remaining fixtures they have left are against teams in the hunt for a play-off spot.

Three successive defeats means that the play-off hopes are over for Preston who sit in 12th place and are eight points behind Bristol City in sixth.  Their latest defeat came in midweek as they had a man sent-off and lost 2-0 to Leeds.  Three of the five remaining fixtures for North-End will come against teams currently in the bottom-half.

It is hard to get with either side here as both have dropped off in recent games and while West Brom are deserved favourites we would not be backing them.  Of the three the draw might be the best option but with neither side benefiting from a draw it might make sense to look at other markets.

The bet we like here is the second-half to be the highest scoring as West Brom under another win or two to be certain of a top six finish while Preston have only a slim hope so might as well go all out after the break and try get something.  This also brings in to play the over 1.5 goals after the break.
