West Brom vs Newcastle Match Preview
West Brom have seen an unbeaten streak of six ended as Wigan (0-1) snatched all-important points at the Hawthorns over the weekend, denying them a gap at the top of the Championship table. Slaven Bilic now has to find a quick fix and his men host Newcastle for their FA Cup clash on Tuesday already.
Baggies have been rock-solid at the back as they beat Bristol (0-3) and Preston (2-0) beforehand, earning five wins and a draw in six games across competitions. They will now hope to capitalize on the visitors’ goalscoring woes and build on such performances, which promises a narrow occasion in the making.
Indeed, Newcastle haven’t been able to find a cure for their struggles up front and we’ve seen them fail to find the net in five of their last six outings. They only beat Oxford (2-3) thanks to Allan Saint-Maximin’s extra-time winner along the way and it’s obvious Steve Bruce has a lot on his mind at this point.
Magpies held Burnley to a goalless draw over the weekend but saw more disappointing trips to Arsenal (4-0) and Crystal Palace (1-0) beforehand. They will need more to cause an upset in West Bromwich and we feel the visitors don’t have that it takes to snatch a ticket to the Quarter-finals here.
We will thus rather back West Brom to make their way past the Premier League rivals and we’ll go for a Home win at 31/20 with bet365, hoping to see them turn a tight contest their way despite high stakes involved.
We’ll back such a claim in the goals market as well and we’ll go for Under 2.5 Goals FT at 4/5 with Paddy Power. We’ve seen both sides enjoying such games lately and we now hope to see more of the same, where slim margins could make all the difference.
