West Brom vs Hull Match Preview
West Brom bounced back to winning ways on Saturday after two successive defeats with a comprehensive 4-1 defeat of Preston. While the scoreline may have flattered them the result was deserved and was led by a Dwight Gayle hat-trick while Jay Rodriguez also netted. They sit fourth in the table nine off Leeds in second and nine above Middlesbrough in seventh so play-offs looks to be how they will end the season.
At the Hawthorns, the Baggies have won each of their last three and lost just one of their last six which came against Sheffield United. The last three home games for the Black Country outfit have seen goals with 13 netted in total. Dwight Gayle has four of these and Jay Rodriguez has three.
Hull saw their four-game winless run come to an end at the weekend as they went down 1-0 to Middlesbrough. They can have few complaints about the result that seems to have put the play-offs beyond them. They have four fixtures remaining and are five points behind Bristol City in sixth and four behind their opponents here.
Away from the KC Stadium, the Tigers have lost six of their last seven and the only win in nine came at Ipswich. They have kept just one clean sheet from their last nine on the road and that came against the bottom placed side. Only four sides have conceded more than the 39 goals they have let in on the road.
It is hard to argue with the hosts being favourites given their recent performances at home while the visitors have been poor on the road winning just one of their last nine. The Baggies will be well backed but we would not be rushing to support a side who seem to have little to play for but a fourth spot they will have to do badly to mess up.
A better angle of attack into this match is goals as the Tigers have nothing to gain from a draw while Albion have seen 13 goals in their last three at home. Over 2.5 goals is on the short side but over 3.5 goals looks worth an interest as does over 1.5 goals in the second-half.
