Werder Bremen vs Borussia Dortmund Match Preview

Borussia Dortmund are backed to stay in with a chance of wresting the Bundesliga title from Bayern Munich by winning away to Werder Bremen.

Dortmund topped the German league table for much of the campaign, but since February they have faltered and let in Bayern for what looks like being their seventh straight championship.

But all is not lost for BVB. They are highly unlikely to close their two-point deficit this weekend because Bayern host bottom club Hannover, but if they can keep the gap the same then the fixtures for the last two rounds of matches could offer them an opportunity.

That is because Bayern finish off against the teams currently placed third and fourth, RB Leipzig (away) and Eintracht Frankfurt (home) respectively, whereas Dortmund have, on paper, a slightly easier schedule with Fortuna Dusseldorf at home and Borussia Monchengladbach away.

Firstly, however, the Black and Yellows need three points against Werder, who were beaten 4-1 by Dusseldorf last weekend.

Despite being without suspended Marco Reus and Marius Wolf who were sent off within five minutes of each other in the 4-2 defeat to Schalke last time out, Dortmund should still have enough firepower and motivation to grind out the result they need.
