Watford vs Wolves Match Preview
Watford have undoubtedly improved for the appointment of Nigel Pearson as manager and look good value to maintain the upward curve when they host Wolves.
Pearson has been in charge for four matches and within the last three of those, the Hornets have nearly doubled their points tally for the season. They have won decisively to nil at home to Manchester United and Aston Villa and drew away to Sheffield United.
Striker Troy Deeney, for one, is enjoying Pearson’s no-nonsense style of management and whatever went wrong earlier in the campaign, there is no question Watford have the quality in their squad to climb the Premier League table if they can sustain the current momentum.
They face a tough task against Wolves, who have been largely holding their own against the big guns with that dramatic 3-2 comeback win against Manchester City before pushing Liverpool all the way at Anfield less than 48 hours later when the runaway league leaders were helped by VAR decisions.
Seventh in the table, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are difficult to beat and have shown on many occasions this season that they never give up with late goals a recurring feature of their matches.
However, it really does appear that Watford have turned a corner, especially when playing at home, and they are backed to continue a resurgence that could ultimately lift them out of relegation trouble.
