Watford host Swansea for their League Cup clash on Tuesday evening, looking to make their way past the Championship rivals and into the 8th Finals just days after the thrashing 8-0 loss at Manchester City, as Quique Sanchez Flores fails to retrieve belief in a side some have already rated favourites to see relegation this term.
Hornets have been very far from their last season’s performances and this has been more than obvious as they fail to compete throughout games, despite pulling back a second-half comeback to secure a point against an unsteady Arsenal side in front of the home fans just the week before.
Swansea will now hope to capitalize on such circumstances but they hardly have a much better streak to boast, after seeing Nottingham Forest snatch all three points in a 0-1 home loss and snatching a point in a goalless draw at Bristol City since. They sit behind new pace-setters Leeds only for their goal difference but Steve Cooper obviously has a task to lift their team spirits.
Swans are thus in somewhat of a goalscoring drought and while a single goal at Leeds United (0-1) brought all three points in late August, breaking the unwanted streak will obviously be very important – especially midway through the week if they’re to keep up their League Cup campaign.
We don’t feel they can, though, and we’ll now rather stick with Watford to end their winless streak here. We’ll go for a Home win at 6/10 with William Hill and hope for more motivated Quique Sanchez Flores’ men this time around.
We expect a very narrow occasion with few goals and we’re going for few goals too, as both sides saw struggles to score on the regular. We’re thus backing Under 2.5 Goals FT at 6/5 with Paddy Power – which could come as the best approach to the fixture here.
