Watford vs Brighton & Hove Albion Match Preview
Watford have picked it up since mid-July and they now host Brighton & Hove Albion, opening the new Premier League campaign in great spirits and on the back of a three-match winning streak. They now hope to build on the performances and kick-start the season on Saturday.
Hornets have beaten Bayer Leverkusen (1-2), Queens Park Rangers (0-1), and Real Sociedad (2-1) in last three outings and while they still have summer business to do – still reportedly battling for club-record signing Ismaila Sarr and hoping to bring reinforcements aside from Craig Dawson, Joao Pedro, and Man City’s Tom Dele-Bashiru.
Brighton have, on the other hand, been very solid under Graham Potter and they’ve bagged their fourth win in five pre-season outings as they beat Valencia (2-1) last week. They’ve been scoring goals on the regular and will hope to keep it up in search of an upset at Vicarage Road.
Seagulls have only seen Fulham (2-1) interrupt the winning streak and it does give a feeling they have a lot to prove, but getting a perfect start in Watford will be a tough task. They have seen struggles for consistency on the road last term and we feel these will go on early in 2019/20.
We will thus back Watford to secure all three points on Matchday 1 and we’ll go for a Home win here at 10/11 with Unibet, which feels like great value as we expect the Hornets to prove their worth at home ground on the day.
We feel they’ll have to outgun Brighton to do so, though, and with that in mind – we’re now also backing Over 2.5 Goals FT at 6/5 with William Hill. We’ve seen high-scoring clashes on both ends lately and this feels like another such occasion in the making.
