Wales vs Croatia Predictions
Wales are still in with a chance of qualifying for the European Championships next summer. The Dragons famously reached the semi-finals of the last tournament in France three years ago and they’ll be hoping for a similar performance this time around although with just three games remaining they sit three points away from second place, although they do have a game in hand on both Slovakia and Hungary.
Having drawn with Repre on Thursday night, the dream of qualifying for the tournament once again is still alive for Ryan Giggs and his side and they will hope to draw on their fine home form on Sunday night given that they’ve won their last four fixtures in front of their own supporters. This is a tougher fixture than most though, hence why they’re priced at 21/10 to pick up all three points at
Croatia were finalists in the World Cup last summer but their form since that magnificent run to the final in Russia appears to have been rather inconsistent. That said, Vatreni still look like they will comfortable qualify for the next European Championships as they currently sit in top position in Group E with a three point gap over second placed Slovakia with just two games now remaining.
After that World Cup final defeat to France, Croatia went four away games without picking up a win and they were even held to a shock draw with Azerbaijan last month, although their other game in that particular international break produced a thumping 0-4 win over Slovakia. With the quality that boss Zlatko Dalic has available to him, odds of 6/4 with Bet365 look like good value on the away win here.
That’s why we’re backing Croatia for the victory, but we’re looking at the winning margin market for even better value. Vatreni have been shaky at best since their exploits in Russia and although we think their quality will eventually shine through, this Wales side will never give up without a serious fight and that’s why we expect the visitors to win by just one goal at odds of 7/2 with with Bet365.
Bruno Petkovic has made a fine start to his international career after earning his first Croatia cap earlier this year. The 25 year old forward, who has already racked up eight goals in all competitions for Dinamo Zagreb this season, has bagged four times in his first six appearances for his country, including a brace in the 3-0 win over Hungary on Thursday night. We can’t resist backing him for another here at odds of 11/4 with Paddy Power.
