Villarreal vs Sporting Lisbon Match Preview
Villarreal host Sporting Lisbon for the return match of their Europa League clash on the back of a four-match unbeaten streak, where they picked up their team spirits with draws against Espanyol (2-2) and Real Valladolid (0-0) as well as more recent wins over Lions (0-1 in the first leg) and Sevilla (3-0) in La Liga.
Yellow Submarine have finally proven themselves a tougher nut to crack but still sit in the relegation zone, desperate for consistency after a solid start to February. Europa League obviously feels like a great chance to pick up their mood but Javi Calleja’s men still have a lot to prove after thrashing Sevillistas with goals from Alvaro Gonzalez, Toko Ekambi, and Alfonso Pedraza.
Sporting Lisbon have, on the other hand, lost on their consistency and this has proven costly in the first leg. They’ve seen two losses to Benfica (2-4 in Primeira Liga and 2-1 in Taca de Portugal) and wins over Feirense (1-3) and Sporting Braga (3-0) only prove their ability to still score numbers of goals.
Lions will now be very motivated to overturn this one and prove that once again but seeing Villarreal reinvigorated lately will be more worrying for the travelling fans, as the visitors try to make it to the final 16 with an upset at Estadio de la Ceramica.
We don’t feel they have what it takes, though, and we’ll now stick with Villarreal to make it past the rivals with another win – which comes at 5/6 with William Hill and attracts support from many in the know already.
It should not come easy and we do feel Sporting come very motivated for an upset too, coming off a great display against Braga. We’ll thus also stick with a Yes on Both teams to score at 10/11 with bet365, hoping for a more exciting contest and goals between the sides this time around.
